At the Chao Lab…
We are dedicated to developing innovative treatment for obesity and obesity-related eating behaviors that improve physical and mental health. We utilize an interdisciplinary approach to focus on four primary areas:
Identification of bio-behavioral factors and phenotypes associated with obesity, particularly addictive-like eating, food cravings, and binge eating, and how these features influence and change with treatment.
Evaluation of behavioral and pharmacological approaches for weight loss and maintenance.
Assessment and development of weight management approaches that address social determinants of health and reduce health disparities.
Evaluation and development of nutrition education and training for healthcare providers.
